wrapped in change

Still at night and enjoy the dark panorama with the silence music from the black environment. Some of my friend have not seen an eel in their life and some of them have never had to grate a coconut before. But with the certain event and activities that was held  they were learning how other people across the divide live. Staying with host families who were strangers cum simple village folk were an eye opener.  Adapting to their lifestyle though only for a weekend was an invaluable test of tolerance and patience. There were lots of lessons and pointers to take in physically and imbibed spiritually. Students definitely had changed after the short village stay. Their field trip assignment was to see the socio-cultural and economic changes in the village yet students got more than they had bargained. Surprisingly, they instead, are now seeing the change in themselves.

What started off as disgusting, seeing leeches in the paddy fields have now turned into admiration for these slimy creatures, the sucking on the skin is therapeutic. It is nature's way of healing us for leeches draw out the bad blood. After they had gotten over the disdain of getting dirty while tapping rubber, herding goats, painting batik, trekking jungle and grating coconuts, they have since appreciated their easy and pampered lifestyle living in the city while having renewed respect for the village's tough life. Life is not only about our self on crony. Got it?
